Synopsis: Samantha becomes a friends with a neighbor
named Jenny who moves next door who uses a wheel chair and has cerebral palsy.
They become friends with Tyrone who is missing a leg, Allison who lost the use
of her arms and legs in a diving accident, Katie who has spina bifida, Ben who
has muscular dystrophy.
My thoughts: I think this is a
wonderful story of friendship and lessons learned about life that one may never
have expected.
Post reading activity: Have a
class discussion about friendships and the lessons we can learn from others.Have students do research on disabilities so they are able to learn more about disabilies and the effects they have.
